Our story…

Photographer portrait

The Beginning

As a photographer drawn to nature, wildlife, and macro subjects, I strive to capture fleeting moments of beauty that often go unnoticed and transform them into images that feel timeless and evocative.

My connection to the coast began in childhood along the North Carolina shoreline, where I first discovered the quiet magic of salt marshes and the warm light of coastal sunrises and sunsets.

The Process

My wife, Dominica, and I have spent forty years in Texas, raising two sons and making countless memories along the Texas coast. In 2020, we welcomed my elderly mother-in-law into our home, and I left teaching to become her full-time caregiver. During that time, I focused deeply on developing my nature and macro photography, often working right in our Austin backyard. In 2022, we fulfilled a long-held dream by purchasing a home on South Padre Island, Carolyn by the Sea, which has given me endless opportunities to explore the island’s rich coastal habitats and share their beauty through my work.

My Philosophy

Drawing from my experience as an avid birder, environmental geologist, and high school biology teacher, I approach photography with both scientific insight and an enduring sense of wonder. For me, photography is a way to honor rare encounters in nature—small gifts that remind us to slow down, look closely, and appreciate the world around us. I hope my images let viewers feel the same awe and see the same beauty that inspired me to press the shutter.
